What are you talking about Willis?

Perhaps, I'm getting caught up in semantics, but I find it stange the author uses "Toward Better Teleworker Security" as the title, when she really means remote or mobile security. Why did she call out the Teleworkers - what did we ever do to her or her dog? I suppose the main topic of the article is securing mobile users who connect to untrusted networks and then plug behind the firewall into the corporate network. It's definitely not regarding Teleworkers who spend most if not all their time outside the trusted corporate network.

I find it interesting the author mentions data leakage prevention (DLP) products as these do nothing in protecting the security of the network or systems. DLP products log and/or block when sensitive data is being accessed, copied and transmitted. Yes, it's an important technology for organizations to consider but what is the relevance to the so-called title of story. It's especially funny that she quotes McAfee whose not even a major player in this space. Yes, they recently bought a company that plays in the space, but at least talk to a market leader. After reading the entire article and viewing the links used, I realize this story isn't about teleworker security or mobile security, it's really just an advertising piece of different vendors and their products. Click on the links in the story and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

I suppose the hidden intent worked. I got pulled in by the title of the article and the Forrester Research quotes. Unfortunately, all I got out of it was links to three vendors (that weren't mentioned in the article) to buy stuff. Stupid me.
