Taxes are such a pain

There is an interesting article on MarketWatch about Telecommuters (as well as business travelers and professional athletes) and the tax implications of working in other states. I can't say I fully understand all the points made in the article but it has at least made me want to read more on my state's tax laws and the Telecommuter Tax Fairness Act. I do know I get taxed pretty well by the Federal government and the Commonwealth of PA, the last thing I need is other states taxing me. I need to do more homework on this and I'll report back...

Brownback declares bid...

Republican Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas launched his Republican nomination and White House run yesterday. He is the Senator that introduced the Parents' Tax Relief Act of 2005 which encouraged telecommuting, adjusted Social Security credits for stay-at-home parents, and streamlined the home office deduction among other things. He definitely will have a tough road going against the likes of Romney, Giuliani and McCain but I'll leave that up to the political blogs and pundits to comment. I wonder if the topic of telecommuting will come up much during speeches and debates. I bet not directly but perhaps during discussions on energy and such.
